Still beats a few like the UK, Germany, UAE and others.

I hear some pretty smart people are investigating a place to go if/when life here gets unbearable. Seems like a bold move to me but the subject is very interesting.

Don't know much about Oz but everyone I've ever heard comment about NZ has spoken in superlatives.

Funny thing....a lot of Americans think Australia is a small country in Europe

NZ is a beautiful place, lush and green and a bit like Washington with tall snow covered peaks (mainly South Is).

Over here in the Mainland (west Is) its all the contrasts.

Trouble is we are letting in too many folk who do not seem to respect and appreciate what we have, yet you sir would have trouble getting in, just like I would if I wanted to become an American.

That would not surprise me in the least. We are largely educated by the government.

As for NZ, they may need to tighten up the immigration law. My best friend's daughter and significant other moved to NZ...because they frikkin' felt like it.

I didn't know one could do that...

They are now raising alpacas and are productive members of NZ society, which they were pre-NZ here also. He has a Phd in some kind of bio science and she is a brainiac in some social science. They really love the life there.

But you guys must be doing some kind of magic down there.

It's unfortunate the world has taken notice. There goes the neighborhood...

Well Bafa,

You might not like it in Aus.

We have socialised medicine, government sponsored tertiary education, significant social security and relativley high taxation.

So we couldn't ACTUALLY be a good place to live, as those things are all straight from the Devil, aint they??
