Given the massive amount of time that has lapsed since you asked the question, I'll hazard a guess that the answer is "no"... Laughing

We've been watching this topic - as OzEx alludes to - to see what support there might be for incorporating a chat room.
Lots of lookers, but nothing to indicate that other PIREP members can't pay their telephone bills Very Happy

Chat room would mean a 24 hour "watchdog" would need to be in place to ensure that no-one was unnecessarily singled out for special treatment.

Possibly in the future, but with the host of other work and improvements slated for PIREP - none of which currently include introducing chat - we're pretty much flat strap from one corner of this Earth,to the other.
Thank goodness for SKYPE.

I've got to say that I've never been a big one for chat. I already have skype for those whom I need to be in contact with regularly. I like being able to 'lob in', read the contributions and then 'lob out' for 1-7 days (depending on the workload) and know that I haven't missed too much.

That said, if others want chat then go for it....it's just not something that I would frequent very regularly at all. Cool

As a "part timer of a Rock Radio internet forum, that has a chat function, I believe it is rarely used.....and thoe who could be using it have more idle time than most on this site, so I say save the trouble!

Love this site though. Hope to get to know a few of you folk better over time.

I have one on my site and it gets used often but not by many users. I'm glad I installed it though.

What makes you say you were glad that you installed it Glenn I ?

Chat ties you to your chair a lot more than typing an entry in your own time does, imo.

Glad because I can get to know the members a bit more and I think it just adds that something different to the site.

People say that it takes the posting away from the forums but in my case I don't think it does. Rarely do we talk about aviation.

Most of the time I am sitting in chat at night time only when I am on the net, because there's only rubbish on telly.

After my awful experience in PPRuNe I steer well clear of chatrooms. I don't trust them or the people who use them & don't think the're a good or credible way to communicate unless you know the users already from real life.

Not for me thanks!
