Did anyone else notice that PIREP was slow today?
In fact, i think it MIGHT have been MY fault
I logged on at work (using the company computer), which I KNOW is channeled to here, there, and everywhere else, and ALWAYS takes eons to respond to any internet applications - due toi the Spyware, I'm guessing!
And I forgot to log out.
After I arrived home, I had some incredibly slow downloads and drop-outs using PIREP, but now hat the system (at JAL) is being shutdown, I've observed a noticeable increase in the speed and "positivity" of the site.

Well something's happened - either this site has had an upgrade, or my server is attached to a comet.
It's just flying now.
Whatever you've done. it's great!

Some of you may have noticed that PIREP was off the air for a short time on Thursday (Australian time), whilst we ran a check of the site (and found everything OK), and also carried out routine website maintenance.
I understand our provider (based in the US) has upgraded (again) their servers, and this may be the reason the site is now performing so much better. They have been excellent in terms of backup on the couple of occasions when we have needed them, and their increased customer base is testimony and reward for all of their hard work as well. _________________ The PIREP Admin Team.

Aha Kaptin, letting your imagination run riot with you again.
I'm in Changi Airport after stuffing myself on Singapore Airlines food , waiting to board a flight to Perth to begin my odessey (how do you spell it) around Oz. Finally getting there after all these years.
Brace yerself Australia!

There's probably a law in Singapore, that prevents you from doing that 8P.
Just be careful you don't get one of those body cavity searches that Singapore is famous for, or else they might discover what you really did with those chicken drumsticks!
And don't forget the "morning after" pill - it could be rather embarassing, trying to explain to the WA Immigration and Customs workers (we call them WAnkers in Oz) that your protruding belly was caused by SQ cockerel.

Kaptin M!!!
Really. I brought a bar of sunlit soap with me for washing & it can be used for washing people's mouths out too. Now get yourself over to Oz during the next three months & I'll knock a bit of manners in to you, you dirty, dirty divil ye.

Yeah I know, I made a joke in Changi Airport at one of the Internet stations where I was having trouble logging on that I might end up being hanged in Changi prison for whatever I was at trying to get on to the system. He told me to be careful, that they monitor everything. I was a bit anxious after that when my name was announced to report back to the check in desk after I'd been checked in at the gate.

How did you know I had chicken on one of my inflight meals, do you have spies posted?

Now now Kaptin, stop taking it out on the poor officials at these airports, the're only trying to sure you don't hijack your own plane. LOL

To try to provide you with the BEST service available, we contacted the company that hosts the PIREP website, and advised them that there appeared to have been a decline in the speed.
Here is their response:
"We have moved you to a new server with two dual core processors."
Can't complain about that.
The transfer at our end has been effected, and is now complete. _________________ The PIREP Admin Team.

It is certainly slower than it used to be.
Now this afternoon I cannot stay logged in, usually can forever?

PARALLEL WORLDS?
We appear to have 2 PIREP.org forums running at the moment - possibly due to the changeover of the servers, which can take up to 72 hours. _________________ The PIREP Admin Team.

It's all happening a lot faster for me but, then, I'm using a wireless broadband connection in the north-east of England! Runs LOTS faster than my crappy, steam-powered dial-up connection in Port Morbid! It'll be hard to get used to it again...

Okay 8P, I've explained to the Scheduler that I have a pressing appointment, and he has graciously removed me from the schedule effective November 1st.
Meet me in Brisbane, or at the Gold Coast until the 15th or 16th, or alternatively in Perth (Australia), for the final round of the Red Bull Air Race, to be held on November 19.
As you can imagine, it took a lot of begging and pleading on my part - not to mention using valuable Annual Leave.
Hammer told me to pass this message to you,

Okay Kaptin
WA has been done & dusted however I fly out of Brisbane to Sydney on Wed 15th Nov.
I plan to stay four days in the Brisbane region but not all in the city but nothings booked yet so I can work my trips around our meeting. Before that I'm a couple of days in Noosa. I do not plan to visit the Gold Coast, not my cup of cha or what I'm searching for in Oz. But maybe we've struck gold this time anyway.
Oh & keep your instruments inside your trousers, thanks. You never know I might come armed with a sharp scissors. It might be illegal in the cabin of an aircraft but there's nothin illegal about using them on the pilots who fly them should the need arise.
Hammer! STOP putting ideas in the Kaptins' head, he's bold enough as he is and doesn't need any further encouragement.
Kaptin. Thank you for taking the leave, I hope it hasn't put you out too far but I'm sure you're going to fit alot more in in your trip to Oz than just meeting me.

There has been a change of dates Kaptin. I arrive into Brisbane a day earlier, i.e. the evening of the 9th which leaves me 5 days in the region.
Please let me know the date you would like to meet as soon as it's convenient for you so I can book my tours and accom ASAP since i may be spending a night out of town.
